Just a disclaimer that I work for the library system which includes 38 locations, including Greater Fort Lauderdale. There are six public floors full of everything you can expect from a library, and then some more on top. Multiple galleries and an artist in residence, currently the renowned visual artist Pablo Francisco Matute (via Broward Cultural Division): check! Makerspace with cutting edge electronics you can borrow with your library card: check! Business startup incubator with free space to do your work: check! Children's Activities Center where young ones have hands-on tactile stimulation via a family-friendly structure: check!. There's a Patent library with its own dedicated patent librarian: check! Parking may not be free, but you'll be surrounded by it. Three parking garages within three blocks. It's definitely worth a visit, and it's free.

This place is fabulous. The books are organized there’s a huge play area there’s always parking. And the people are really nice. And it’s never crowded and you can check out up to 50 books. Will def go back.

Great library! I worked there for a few hours and it was very peaceful. There was a ton of space, comfy seating, and they had a few displays to peruse.

A new and disturbing Update: It seems that when these people dislike someone, they go to great lengths to show it. Someone employeed at the Broward County Public Library called the police to has us removed for sitting outside. Mind you, we were not the only people to sit outside, just the only ones ordered to leave. And here's the kicker..the Broward County Public Library personnel, stated that the library is a "private library, on private property"!!! The place has "public" in the name, and yet these people are so corrupt, well anyway, they use the color of law on a regular basis. Unfortunately, it isn't worth going there. I really hope people see it for what it really is, a bunch of small town crooks that will use whatever they can to play like they have value. It must be nice when you get hired through nepotism and not merit. But I wouldn't know, I've always been hired for my skill, not my relationships. And just so I am clear, my son and I are Eurasian descent. I believe that alone may be too much for the feebs to comprehend. Update: From what we can see, you must be the right color to sit outside of the Broward County Library. There is a young Caucasian male, blond, he is allowed to smoke right by the doors, we can't even have Caramel on the outside of the property. What a bunch of racists running this corrupt county. If you think I kid, look at how they mess with their data to get more government funding than they deserve. That is fraud by the way. I guess anyone with a brain is not allowed on library property, but if you are white and blond it's no problem. Just check with that low lack-of-intelligence manager that runs the place now. Since he's taken over its all gone down hill. Such a meat bag. This is Caramel, she loves to visit the library with my son. Sadly, we are no longer allowed in the library. A huge creep decided to come out screaming at us that she is not allowed in his library because she is "an animal". Well he is a waste of space meat bag! My son has anxiety issues and Caramel is helping him gain coping skills. Unfortunately, we dealt with several homeless people that have no understanding of personal space and continued grabbing at and trying to hold Caramel. Adding to this is a waste of good oxygen who feels it necessary to attempt to extinguish the goodwill and spirit of an innocent kitten.

Wonderful! I just came from Spain and looking for a place to read and relax... And find this beautiful site! Very nice staff! Thank you! Nothing to envy the big libraries in Europe.

Things have gotten better at the library now that the construction is finished. Sadly the the palm trees in the atrium have probably seen much better days. As far as libraries go the stacks are pretty well maintained and the librarians are very helpful, although the front desk staff can be a little surly. If you use the ILL service make sure to check your return dates as often they will arrive overdue. Make sure to stop in the bookshop, I've added to my collection of fiction and classical music for mere pennies.

The library was great nice and clean computer room staff was nice but there was a security guard who watched me lock my bike to a out of the way trash receptacle as there was no visible bike racks in the area. He followed me to the front desk 2nd floor where I was applying for a library card berating me in front of several people saying he would cut my lock and throw my belongings in the trash. He could have easily asked me to move it in the first place
